A Pocket alternative for what you save now.

Mozilla announced in 2025 that it was shutting Pocket down, and the service closed in July of that year. Which replacement suits you depends on what you save now. If it is mostly long articles, a dedicated reading app is the better fit. If it is reels, TikToks, YouTube videos and links, Savio is worth a look, and this page covers where it fits and where it does not.

What people used Pocket for

Pocket was best known as a read-it-later app for articles: save a link from the browser or phone, then read it when you have time. Since then, a lot of what people keep has moved to video and social posts, such as a reel, a YouTube tutorial or a Reddit thread. Before you pick a replacement, scroll back through what you saved last month and see which kind dominates.

Where Savio fits

Savio is a free iOS and Android app that saves from the share sheet in Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Reddit, Threads, Facebook and Substack, plus any link. Each save keeps the title, creator and caption, and tracking parameters are stripped from the URL. Saves go into collections, AI tags them, and search covers titles, creators, notes and tags.

Read-it-later lists tend to grow faster than anyone gets through them. Savio's optional daily digest arrives at a time you choose, and resurfacing nudges, which you can turn off, bring back saves you forgot. The features page lists the rest.

Where Savio is not a like-for-like swap

  • Social and video first. Savio saves articles and Substack posts as links, but its focus is reels, videos and social posts. If you mainly read long-form text, a dedicated reading app may suit you better.
  • No Pocket import listed. Savio does not advertise a way to bring in a Pocket library in bulk. You re-save the links that still matter, which tends to leave a lighter list.
  • Phone first. Savio is an iOS and Android app. Saving from a desktop browser uses the browser extension, which comes with Savio Pro.

Getting started after Pocket

  • Start small. Instead of moving everything, re-save the ten or twenty links you still want.
  • Make a few collections. Group by what you will do with them, such as “Watch this weekend” or “Recipes to try”. Our recipe saving guide shows the idea in practice.
  • Turn on the digest. Pick a time of day when you usually have a few minutes free.

Savio is free to download and use, with 5 personal collections, 1 shared collection and 50 new saves a month. Savio Pro lifts those limits and adds the browser extension; see pricing for plans.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pocket still available?

Mozilla announced in 2025 that it was shutting Pocket down, and the service closed that July. Check Mozilla's Pocket support pages for anything still available, such as data exports.

Can I import my Pocket saves into Savio?

Savio does not list a Pocket import among its features today. The practical route is to re-save the links you still care about by sharing them to Savio, and start with a smaller list.

Is Savio good for reading long articles?

Savio saves any link you share, including articles and Substack posts, and keeps them alongside videos and social posts. It is designed around social and video saves first, so if you mainly read long-form text, a dedicated reading app may suit you better.

Does Savio work on a computer?

Savio is an iOS and Android app. Savio Pro adds the browser extension for saving from your browser.
